The Zambia interfaith networking group on HIV/AIDS (ZINGO) was formed in 1997 to assist religious communities to become more involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and impact mitigation. Zingo consists of the three umbrella Christian organizations-Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ), Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), and Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) - the independent churches of Zambia, the Islamic council of Zambia, and the representatives of the Baha’I and Hindu communities.
ZINGO provides a platform though which faith based organizations (FBOs) responding to the needs of the communities and vulnerable groups such as people Living with AIDS (PLWA), women, Widows, orphans and vulnerable children (OVC)and the youth can initiate, strengthen or expand on existing HIV/AIDS and OVC interventions.
