Zambia
Interfaith Networking Group on HIV/AIDS (ZINGO) was formed in
1997 to assist the religious community become more involved
in HIV/AIDS prevention and impact mitigation. ZINGO is a networking
organization that mobilizes resources and supports many FBOs
in their initiatives against HIV Eand AIDS.
ZINGO members are: National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahais
of Zambia (NSABZ); Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ); Evangelical
Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ); Hindu Association of Zambia (HAZ);
Independent Churches and other Ministries in Zambia (ICOZ);
Islamic Council of Zambia (ICZ) and Zambia Episcopal Conference
(ZEC).
Affiliate members of ZINGO include the Seventh Day Adventist
Church (SDA).
ZINGO provides a platform on which faith-based organizations
(FBOs) can initiate, strengthen or expand on existing HIV/AIDS
initiatives, responding to the needs of individuals, households
and communities, especially the most vulnerable groups such
as People Living with HIV and AIDS, women, widows, orphans and
other vulnerable children (OVC).
ZINGO
Partners Day
Plans
are underway to hold a Partners' Day for all ZINGO Partners
at the ZINGO secretariat on 6th November, 2008. This event will
be used to showcase the work being done by ZINGO to coordinate
the faith based organizations' response to fight against HIV/AIDS.
World AIDS Day
Since
the year 2004, ZINGO has faithfully coordinated the activities
of the Interfaith Candlelinght Memorial Service in Zambia and
this is always held on the eve of World AIDS Day. This year
is not an exception as plans are in the intial stage to start
putting things in place for this unique event that brings people
from differnt religions together to revitalise the vigour in
the fight against HIV/AIDS. Keep visiting our website for more

National
Open Forum on Parenting & Parenthood
Following
the national survey on parenting and parenthood, ZINGO will
hold a national open forum to discuss the findings of the survey
in late November 2008.

networks, builds competencies and mobilizes resources for faith
organizations to be involved in HIV/AIDS activities that will
